Join us for a thought-provoking keynote presentation by Kevin Kwan, CFA, Global Head of Data Science, Enterprise Data, Bloomberg. Kevin will share insights on the impact of GenAI and ChatGPT on investment decision-making, and how finance practitioners shall brace themselves amidst such technological shift. The keynote presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with Burton Chau, Co-Founder & CEO, Sanuker and Michael Yung, Strategic Advisor, Google Cloud, Google, on how AI-powered chatbots are enhancing customer interactions and streamlining customer support processes in the financial industry. The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Yang Wang, Chair Professor of Mathematics, HKUST and Director of HKUST The Big Data for Bio Intelligence Laboratory.

Following the panel discussion, a networking drinks event will provide a relaxed and informal setting for attendees to engage in interactive discussions with the speakers, network with industry peers, and build valuable professional relationships.

About the Speakers

Kevin leads the quant and data science solution developments at Bloomberg Enterprise Data. His team designs and develops proof-of-concept models and visualizations to extract insights from data using cutting-edge data science, AI and machine learning techniques. Kevin has over 10 years of experience applying quant and data science techniques in investment processes.

Kevin is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Charterholder, and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University.

Burton Chau, the CEO and co-founder of Sanuker, dedicates to providing pioneering business messaging and AI chatbot solutions to enterprises in fostering digital transformation in conversational era. With his expertise and leading vision in the conversational business industry, Sanuker has extended its footprint in the Greater China Regions, Singapore, Mexico, Spain and Southeast Asia and established WOZTELL conversational management platform in Asia and Latin-speaking countries. Many of Sanuker’s projects have been celebrated as success stories by giants like Meta and Microsoft. Moreover, Sanuker is a recognized partner of both Meta and HSBC.

Michael Yung is currently a Strategic Advisor in Google Cloud’s APAC Industry Technology Group, where he provides technology advice and guidance to clients on their long-term strategy. He has over 30 years of experience in IT, with a particular focus on Internet, eCommerce, and TravelTech. He is also an expert in web usability, computer security, and blockchain technologies.

Before joining Google, Michael held senior roles at a number of leading organizations in the APAC region, including Asia Miles, Caltex, Cathay Pacific Airways, the HKSAR Government, Hutchison eCommerce, HKICPA, Priceline, SingTel, and Tradelink. In these roles, he was responsible for developing and managing systems, as well as providing strategic advice and guidance.

Dr. Yang Wang took office as Vice-President for Institutional Advancement of HKUST on October 1, 2020. He is also a Chair Professor of Department of Industrial Engineering and Decision Analytics and Department of Mathematics. He joined the HKUST as the Head of the Department of Mathematics in 2014 and he became the Dean of School of Science in 2016.

Dr. Wang is an internationally respected scholar with wide ranging research interests, having published over 100 research journal papers in both pure and interdisciplinary mathematics, many of which in top journals. During his tenure as Dean of Science and Head of Mathematics, Dr. Wang founded the HKUST Big Data Institute and launched the popular Big Data Technology MSc program.

Remarks

• Registration is requested, no walk-in will be entertained.
• Only registered participants are allowed to stay and attend the event.
• Registrations should be paid in full before the commencement of the activity. The Society reserves the right to disallow entrance to the activity for any unpaid registrations or registrations in doubt.
• Full amount of registration fee will still be charged for no show or enrolment made after 7th November 2023 (Tuesday).
• For any cancellation of confirmed enrolment on or before 7th November 2023 (Tuesday), an administration fee of HK$50 plus 50% of the registration fee will be forfeited. All cancellation requests must be made in writing and be confirmed by email from the Society.
• Refund of the registration fee (after deducting HK$50 administration fee and 50% forfeiture) will be given for cancellation received on/before 7th November 2023 (Tuesday).
• For payment made by credit card, refund will be handled through the card-issuing bank. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing. The amount will be refunded to the credit card used for payment.
• No refund will be given for cancellation received after 7th November 2023 (Tuesday).
• Substitutions are allowed and please notify us no later than 7th November 2023 (Tuesday) if such arrangement is required. Non-member rate applies if the substitute is not a CFA Society Hong Kong member.
• The event organizers reserve the right to change the format, date of the event due to unforeseen circumstances without prior notice.
• The event will be conducted in English.
• For attendance-taking purpose, participants’ names and company names (if any) may be given to the speaker of this event.
• Should there be any changes to the event dates and other arrangements, we will notify participants via SMS and/or email.  Notices will also be posted on Society’s website.  Please stay alert with our notifications.
• An additional administrative charge of HK$50 will be charged for participant who registers on the event day.
• In the event of a dispute, the decision of CFA Society Hong Kong shall be final and binding.
