With a background in venture capital, M&A, and technology investments across North America, Europe, and Asia, Cheney began his career at Goldman Sachs, honing his expertise in technology-driven investment strategies. Cheney holds a BBA in Global Business and Economics from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and has pursued studies at Harvard University and Peking University. Passionate about innovation, he is dedicated to advancing AI’s role in transforming the financial industry.

David is currently a Strategic Investment & Partnership Director at Animoca Brands, bringing over 15 years of experience of investing and driving innovation in Web3, AI, GameFi, decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN), real world assets (RWA), and energy transition. He has a proven track record of success in investment, having served as Chief China Strategist and Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Macquarie, and Polymer Capital. He has been recognized as the Best Analyst in the Institutional Investor All-Asia Research Poll and the Best Stock Picker by Starmine.
 
David chairs the Web3 and FinTech Sub-committee and the Candidate Services Committee at CFA Society Hong Kong. He was also the President of the Oxford & Cambridge Society of Hong Kong from 2021 to 2022. He is a first-class honours graduate from the University of Oxford with full scholarship, where he majored in Engineering, Economics and Management. He is a CFA charterholder and a CIMA-qualified accountant.

  • Registration is required and no walk-in will be accommodated.
  • If you have any discomfort or flu symptoms, please refrain from attending the event.
  • Only registered participants are allowed to stay and attend the event.
  • Registrations should be paid in full before the commencement of the activity. CFA Society Hong Kong (the “Society”) reserves the right to decline entrance to the activity for any unpaid registrations or registrations in doubt.

  • The Society does not accept cash or cheque payments. Please ensure the online payment is successfully completed in order to secure the registration.
  • The full amount of registration fee will still be charged for no show or enrolment made after 18th December 2024 (Wednesday).
  • An additional administrative charge of HK$50 will be charged for participants who register on the event day.
  • For any cancellation of confirmed enrolment on or before 18th December 2024 (Wednesday), an administration fee of HK$50 plus 50% of the registration fee will be forfeited. All cancellation requests must be made in writing and be confirmed by email from the Society.
  • A refund of the registration fee (after deducting HK$50 administration fee and 50% forfeiture) will be given for cancellation received on/before 18th December 2024 (Wednesday).
  • For payment made by credit card, a refund will be handled through the card-issuing bank. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing. The amount will be refunded to the credit card used for payment.
  • No refund will be given for cancellation received after 18th December 2024 (Wednesday).
  • Substitutions are allowed and please notify us no later than 18th December 2024 (Wednesday) if such an arrangement is required. Non-member rate applies if the substitute is not a CFA Society Hong Kong member.
  • The event organizers reserve the right to change the format or date of the event due to unforeseen circumstances without prior notice.
