Dr. Alvin Ho, CFA
President

Dr. Alvin Ho is an experienced investment principal with a proven track record in private equity. While dedicating time to teaching at universities, he balances managing private investment portfolios and institutional LP investing with mentoring both start-ups and established companies. In addition, he serves as a board member for listed companies and NGOs, and is a member of investment committees for various funds and platforms. Previously the legal and executive representative for local currency funds incorporated in Beijing and Chengdu, he was the Head of China for a pan-regional private equity growth fund.

As President of the Society, Alvin spearheaded key initiatives to advance industry collaboration. He curated the Society’s 30th-anniversary publication, featuring insights from 30 distinguished industry experts, and launched the flagship ‘Presidential Moment’ series, convening global luminaries including a Nobel Laureate, top strategists, authors, and executives like a multinational bank’s Hong Kong CEO.

Alvin holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, along with master’s degrees from Tsinghua University and London Business School. He has authored three books in Chinese on the economics of sports, and served as chief editor of, and contributor to, RISE FROM CRISES, a publication of CFA Society Hong Kong.

William Kung

William Kung has more than 18 years of experience in the global equity market and several years of experience in the virtual asset class. Prior to joining China AMC (HK) Ltd., he served as the Chief Investment Officer at Pando Finance Limited (with an AUM of HK$1 billion), where he managed a number of virtual asset funds.

At China AMC (HK) Ltd., William manages the China AMC Spot BTC and Ether ETF and also contributes to managing the tokenized Money Market Fund.

William holds a Master’s degree in Economics from York University in 2001 and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Toronto in 1999. He also holds the AICPA (US) designation.

Eddie Fu Wing Lau (“Eddie”) has 23 years of experience in fintech, asset management, and brokerage in China and the United States. He is the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of Arta Global Markets Limited (“AGML”), a Hong Kong-based financial institution regulated by the Securities and Futures Commission to conduct Type 1, 4, and 9 regulated activities. AGML offers one-stop, hybrid financial services in brokerage, custody, and asset management in traditional assets and digital assets.

Under Eddie’s leadership, Arta TechFin Corporation Limited (“ATCL”) received the Best Technology Award in Central Bank Digital Currency (“CBDC”) of Global Fast Track 2022 by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (“HKMA”). ATCL was also selected by HKMA to participate in the e-HKD Pilot Programme in May 2023 and Project Ensemble Sandbox in August 2024 to develop Hong Kong’s infrastructure and use cases in CBDC, stablecoins, tokenized deposits, and tokenized real-world assets (RWAs).

From 2018 to 2020, Eddie held senior executive positions and managed US$4.5 billion of China offshore and onshore assets with one of the largest Sino-Foreign joint-venture fund management companies in China, Rongtong Fund Management headquartered in Shenzhen, and its Hong Kong subsidiary, Rongtong Global Investment. From 2010 to 2017, he co-founded PCA Investments, a hedge fund seeded by the China Investment Corporation, in Beijing and Harmony Advisor, an external asset manager, in Hong Kong. From 2006 to 2010, he managed absolute return portfolios at Elliott Advisors and Merrill Lynch, respectively. In June 2002, he began his career as a convertible bond trader with UBS Securities LLC in the United States.

Eddie received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with Honors from the University of Chicago (“UChicago”) in 2002. He has been a board member of the UChicago Alumni Board since July 2023. In June 2018 and May 2023, he received the Alumni Club of the Year Award and the Alumni Service Award from UChicago, respectively. He has been a committee member of the Hong Kong Football Association, China, since 2019. He was a member of the Task Force on Promoting Web3 Development of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region from July 2023 to June 2025. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Faculty of Business and Economics of the University of Hong Kong.

Catherine Chan is the Executive Director and AI Evangelist at the listed eBroker Group, a fintech and financial engineering firm. She leads the search for new AI-driven business opportunities and oversees the Group's operations. Catherine has been with the company since 2020.

In 2023, eBroker developed eBrAIny, an AI-powered consensus-generating tool that revolutionizes investment strategies across a wide range of assets—including stocks, commodity futures, forex, and cryptocurrencies—by leveraging daily historical price data.

Catherine holds a Bachelor's degree from Purdue University in the United States.

Thomas Li, CFA

Thomas Li, CFA, is the Market Strategist at AIA Group Investment, where he leads tactical asset allocation strategies and spearheads AI innovation initiatives across institutional investing in Asia. In his role, he has successfully navigated complex market environments while pioneering systematic investing approaches that integrate advanced technology with traditional investment frameworks.

Thomas leads AIA's systematic investing initiatives, developing comprehensive Python-based quantitative models for cross-asset market timing, regime analysis, and sentiment analysis. As a member of AIA's Group Investment AI Working Group Committee, he steers strategic AI project rollouts across investment activities and spearheaded the development of the Investment Copilot Platform—an agentic AI system that positions the firm at the forefront of regional investment technology.

Thomas holds the CFA charter, an M.A. in Economics, and an M.Phil. in Economics & Finance from the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining AIA, he held senior roles at Ping An Technology and CITIC CLSA, specializing in macro strategy, quantitative research, and asset allocation.

Fred Wong
Founder and Chief Investment Officer

Fred Wong specializes in global technology stock investments. He graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a degree in Systems Engineering (semiconductor stream). He has held various management positions at semiconductor companies including UMC, Novatek, Realtek, and Solomon Systech.

After 10 years in the semiconductor industry, Fred transitioned to the financial sector. At BNP Paribas, he was ranked No. 1 in the IT sector of the 2009 Thomson Reuters StarMine Best Earnings Estimator category.

Fred is the author of five investment books and has been invited by numerous universities and media outlets to speak on technology-related topics. Following his decade of career in semiconductors, he spent two decades working as an analyst and fund manager. He also fine-tuned an AI large language model called FredGPT, which incorporates his research into ABO blood type neuroscience.

In addition to enjoying a variety of sports, Fred is passionate about exploring the secrets of the human brain’s "source code." His goal is to decode the original “factory setup” of the human mind through theology, neuroscience, philosophy, semiconductors, AI, and ABO theory.

He has a proven track record of success in investment, having served as Chief China Strategist and Portfolio Manager at Morgan Stanley, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Macquarie, and Polymer Capital. He has been recognized as the Best Analyst in the Institutional Investor All-Asia Research Poll and the Best Stock Picker by Starmine.

David chairs the Web3 and FinTech Sub-committee and the Candidate Services Committee at CFA Society Hong Kong. He was also the President of the Oxford & Cambridge Society of Hong Kong from 2021 to 2022. He is a first-class honours graduate from the University of Oxford with full scholarship, where he majored in Engineering, Economics and Management. He is a CFA charterholder and a CIMA-qualified accountant.
