Sharing by the HKIB on integrating the CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing into the HKMA Enhanced Competency Framework on Green and Sustainable Finance

In supporting capacity building and talent development for banking professionals, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) worked together with the banking industry to introduce an industry-wide competency framework – “Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) for Banking Practitioners”.

With reference to HKMA guidance material, the ECF on Green and Sustainable Finance aims to:

  1. develop a sustainable talent pool of GSF talent for the banking industry; and
  2. raise the professional competence of practitioners who are performing functions related to GSF in the banking industry.

In this webinar, representatives from the Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) will provide an insightful sharing on the related Professional Qualification Programmes offered by HKIB. In particular, the sharing will cover how certain holders of CFA Institute Certificate in ESG Investing may be eligible to apply for modular exemptions within the ECF on Green and Sustainable Finance programme to chart pathways towards obtaining relevant designations, integrating such certificate holders into the ECF framework.

Following that, CFA Society Hong Kong will highlight ESG related initiatives carried out by their various committees, and CFA Institute will briefly introduce the new Climate Risk, Valuation and Investing Certificate.
