CFA Society Hong Kong recognizes the importance of nurturing young talent within our membership, as well as supporting the development of young professionals across the financial industry in Hong Kong. Join us for an engaging fireside chat featuring Ms. Kam Shing Kwang, CFA, CEO of J.P. Morgan Hong Kong, in conversation with Dr. Alvin Ho, CFA, President of the Society. This intimate discussion will center on Ms. Kwang’s inspiring career journey and the valuable lessons she has learned along the way.

This event will serve as a unique platform for participants to gain perspective on career development, industry challenges, and the pathways to success in finance. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with Ms. Kwang and Dr. Ho, asking questions and learning from their experiences.

Following the discussion, attendees are invited to join for a networking session, where drinks and canapés will be served. This gathering will provide a wonderful opportunity to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and build relationships within the financial community.

About the Speakers

Kam Shing Kwang, CFA
Chief Executive Officer
J.P. Morgan Hong Kong

Kam Shing Kwang is Chief Executive Officer, Hong Kong and Chair for North Asia at J.P. Morgan. In addition, she is a member of J.P. Morgan’s Asia Pacific Management Committee.

Ms. Kwang has over 30 years of experience in financial services, across private banking, asset management and investment banking. Since joining J.P. Morgan in 1998, she has played a key role in facilitating partnership across lines of business to better address clients’ corporate balance sheet and personal wealth management needs.

Between 2019 and 2024, Ms. Kwang was Vice Chair of Investment Banking, Greater China. She was also Chief Executive Officer of J.P. Morgan’s Private Bank in Asia from 2017 to 2023.

Between 2016 and 2018, Ms. Kwang completed her first term as Chief Executive Officer for J.P. Morgan Hong Kong, overseeing local governance, coordination and controls. She is a trusted advisor for the industry, having had a seat on Hong Kong’s Banking Advisory Committee from 2016 to 2022, which advises Hong Kong’s Chief Executive on banking sector issues.

Ms. Kwang was also previously named one of the leading female private bankers in Asia by Global Investor Magazine, one of the top twelve most influential female bankers in Asia by Finews.asia, and the most influential female leader in Asia by The Digital Banker.

Ms. Kwang holds a BAcc (Hon) degree from National University of Singapore and the designation of CFA. She is also a member on the Advisory Board for Wealth Management Lee Kong Chian School of Business at Singapore Management University.

Dr. Alvin Ho, CFA
President
CFA Society Hong Kong

Dr. Alvin Ho is an experienced investment principal with a proven track record in private equity. While dedicating time to teaching at universities, he balances managing private investment portfolios and institutional LP investing with mentoring both start-ups and established companies. In addition, he serves as a board member for listed companies and NGOs, and is a member of investment committees for various funds and platforms. Previously the legal and executive representative for local currency funds incorporated in Beijing and Chengdu, he was the Head of China for a pan-regional private equity growth fund.
 
Alvin holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, along with master’s degrees from Tsinghua University and London Business School. He has authored three books in Chinese on the economics of sports, and served as chief editor of, and contributor to, RISE FROM CRISES, a publication of CFA Society Hong Kong.
