The geopolitical tensions between China and the US are reshaping the global economy and the global supply chain. The two countries are competing on every aspect to gain influence. ASEAN countries are well positioned in this geopolitical rivalry.

The structural story of ASEAN is unfolding with their young population, rich natural resources, cultural diversity and dynamic economies. ASEAN has been playing an indispensable role in the global semiconductor supply chain for decades and could be the next global manufacturing hub.

Join us for this insightful fireside chat with Mr. Tan Teng Boo, Managing Director of Capital Dynamics and adjunct professor at University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

We hope this fireside chat provides the platform to discuss why investing in ASEAN is attractive under the big picture of global geopolitics and economy.

About the Speaker

TAN TENG BOO

Aged 70, Tan Teng Boo is highly regarded as an avid investor, entrepreneur, and a fund manager with deep seeded values of integrity. He is the only fund manager who has experienced all the bear markets in Malaysia since 1973. He has the perspective and knowledge required to navigate volatile markets and uncertain economic conditions. His fascination with investing has led him to acquire an uncanny insight into the workings of corporations, equity markets and economies. He is an Adjunct Professor at University of Technology Sydney (UTS). He has also been appointed as a Fellow of UTS Business School. Having a “fanatic’s” interest has enabled him to be very familiar with the different methods of investment analysis and approaches—understanding their strengths and weaknesses and suitability of each to different investment objectives and circumstances. As a result, Teng Boo has the unique ability to blend his investing skills with his business experiences. As Warren Buffett said, “It’s been awfully good to have a foot in both camps.” The funds managed by him have generated superior performance. Teng Boo is licenced in his personal capacity as a fund manager in Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Australia and he manages both local and global funds under Capital Dynamics. He graduated with an honours degree in Social Sciences, majoring in Economics, from Sussex University, UK.
