Join us for an exclusive Presidential Moment Fireside Chat featuring Mr. Mahesh Harilela, a dynamic entrepreneur and steward of one of Hong Kong’s prominent family legacies, in conversation with Dr. Alvin Ho, CFA, President of CFA Society Hong Kong.
In this intimate dialogue, Mahesh will share personal reflections on his journey across entrepreneurship, family office stewardship, and the evolving role of family governance in preserving legacy across generations. Drawing from his experience spanning investments, new economy ventures, and strategic growth, the conversation will also explore how forward-looking families are navigating innovation, sustainability, and global opportunities.
Moderated by Dr. Ho, the session will offer candid insights into leadership, succession planning, and the mindset required to bridge tradition with future ambition, followed by an interactive Q&A with attendees.
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by the fireside dialogue and concluding with a seated dinner, offering further opportunities for networking and exchange.

Mahesh is a dynamic entrepreneur with a proven track record of building and developing companies across diverse industries, including NewSpace Economy for Hong Kong, Education, renewable energy infrastructure & Investments, general trading, and brand development. As an advisor to his family investments, he specializes in guiding startups through to B-round funding, leveraging his expertise in strategic growth and investment.
Mahesh also plays a pivotal role as Family Council Convenor in developing family governance, where he focuses on succession planning and sustaining family legacies through structured governance frameworks, ensuring the seamless transition of wealth and values across generations.

About the Moderator
Dr. Alvin Ho, CFA
President

Dr. Alvin Ho is an experienced investment principal with a proven track record in private equity. While dedicating time to teaching at universities, he balances managing private investment portfolios and institutional LP investing with mentoring both start-ups and established companies. In addition, he serves as a board member for listed companies and NGOs, and is a member of investment committees for various funds and platforms. Previously the legal and executive representative for local currency funds incorporated in Beijing and Chengdu, he was the Head of China for a pan-regional private equity growth fund.
As President of the Society, Alvin spearheaded key initiatives to advance industry collaboration. He curated the Society’s 30th-anniversary publication, featuring insights from 30 distinguished industry experts, and launched the flagship ‘Presidential Moment’ Series, convening global luminaries including a Nobel Laureate, top strategists, authors, and C-Suite investment executives.
Alvin holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, along with master’s degrees from Tsinghua University and London Business School. He has authored three books in Chinese on the economics of sports, and served as chief editor of, and contributor to, RISE FROM CRISES, a publication of CFA Society Hong Kong.-

Remarks
- Registration is mandatory; no walk-ins will be entertained. Only registered participants are allowed to stay and attend the event.
- For paid events, registration is only confirmed upon receipt of payment. If the registration fee remains outstanding, CFA Society Hong Kong reserves the right to disallow entrance to the event.
- Cash and cheque payments are strictly not accepted. Participants should ensure that online payment is successfully completed; otherwise, registration may not be processed.
- An administration fee of HK$50 will be charged for any cancellation of confirmed enrollment made on or before 23 June 26. All cancellation requests must be made in writing and confirmed by email from CFA Society Hong Kong. A refund of the event fee, less the administration fee of HK$50 per person, will be issued for eligible cancellations. The full event fee will be charged for no-shows or cancellation requests after 23 June 26.
- For payments made by credit card, eligible refunds will be processed through the bank, and participants should allow 4 to 6 weeks for processing. The amount will be refunded to the paid credit card account.
- For attendance-taking purposes, participants’ names and company names (if applicable) may be provided to the speaker of this event.
- Should there be any changes to the event dates or other arrangements, participants will be notified via SMS and/or email. Notices will also be posted on the CFA Society Hong Kong’s website, so participants should stay alert for notifications.
- If participants experience any discomfort or flu symptoms, they should not participate in the event.
- Participants should take good care of their belongings. CFA Society Hong Kong is not responsible for any personal loss.
- To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, participants are expected to treat fellow attendees with respect. Abusive or threatening behavior will not be tolerated, and individuals who behave inappropriately may be asked to leave the event.
- The event organizers reserve the right to change the format or date of the event due to unforeseen circumstances without prior notice.
- In the event of a dispute, the decision of CFA Society Hong Kong shall be final and binding.
